Garbage Collection Concerns

Garbage Company Update:

Below is a link from Channel 7 news that portrays the difficulties that residents of Flat Rock, and multiple other communities downriver are facing with the garbage company. All GFL (original garbage company) residential contracts have been sold, meaning, the City of Flat Rock's contract with GFL was bought out by Priority Waste. We received notice of this less than two weeks ago, with just a letter, with very little, if not any, communication from GFL.

We understand that in the last two weeks of this transition, that GFL services were less than poor, and residents are feeling neglected by their garbage pickup. Priority Waste is now trying to pick up the garbage that not only was left by GFL, but also accommodate the new routes and garbage that needs to be picked up. This is happening all while the GFL trucks provided to Priority Waste were under maintenance and are trying to become repaired to be able to service the residents.

While we completely understand your frustration with this change, please be patient with our Department of Public Services, as they are a middle man in your garbage collection and are relaying all of your concerns to Priority Waste.
