Wayne County Drain Letter Information

Many Flat Rock residents have received letters from the Wayne County Drain Commissioner regarding Drainage District Boundaries. We have been informed by Wayne County that the entire County is being reviewed, and this is not something that is specific to Flat Rock, and in fact multiple cities received letters as part of this phase of the review. We have been told that there is no active project in Flat Rock that has triggered this review. However, it is possible that in the future, much like residents along the recently completed Cook-Gladding Drain, there could be assessments levied against these districts by the County. Again the City plays no part in the process, and in fact pays any assessment that touches City owned land. This is about making sure that residents who benefit or utilize a drain are appropriately classified within that Drain's district. These drains refer to the Stormwater drains and not your sanitary sewer.

Per the letter they have scheduled a Day of Review of the Boundaries from MONDAY, AUGUST 18 from 9am-5pm at the Wayne County Department of Public Services Road Division, Central Maintenance Yard, 29900 Goddard Rd., Romulus, MI. Additionally there is a Day of Review of Apportionments on MONDAY, AUGUST 25 from 9am-5pm at the Wayne County Department of Public Services Road Division, Central Maintenance Yard, 29900 Goddard Rd., Romulus, MI.
