City of Flat Rock Safe Routes to School Program

The Safe Routes to School program installs sidewalks, pavement markings and in-street pedestrian crossing signage as part of an overall program in very specific areas of the City. This is the initial phase of Safe Routes to School in Flat Rock. The City will be applying for additional phases in the future.

For 2019, those areas include sections of Seneca Street, Field Street and E. Huron River Drive. Maps have been attached to show the work in those areas. The goal of the program is not to have people, especially children, walking or riding their bikes in the middle of a street or close to the road because of lack of sidewalks.

There is a public meeting for those properties that are directly affected by this project (only those indicated on the attached maps) at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in Conference Room "A". Engineers will be available to answer questions pertaining only to those properties in the project area.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call Liz Hendley, Economic Development Director, at 734-789-2323.
